- Acceptable Animal Models of RENAL Disease in Diabetes
A good model should display a majority of the following criteria:
- Greater than 50% decline in GFR over the lifetime of the animal.
- 10-fold increase in albuminuria > controls for that strain at the same age and gender.
- C. Pathology of perfused Kidneys
- Mesangial Sclerosis
- Any degree of arteriolar hyalinosis
- GBM thickening by >50% baseline
- Tubulo-interstitial fibrosis
